Mrs. Emma Herrlich Gunn, age 83 years, of New Palestine, died Saturday in Hancock Memorial Hospital following a short illness due to heart complications.
Mrs. Gunn was a funeral director in the New Palestine community for more than 60 years and was one of the first licensed lady embalmers in Indiana. She was the daughter of Max and Mary Bechert Herrlich, born in Indianapolis, October 7, 1878.
She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ at New Palestine, the Women't Guild, and the Missionary Society of the Church. She was a 50 year member and Past Worthy Matron of the New Palestine Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; holds membership in the White Shrine at Indianapolis, and the Progress Club of New Palestine.
Surviving are three sisters, Miss Nellie Herrlich of New Palestine, Mrs Lucile Call of Steubenville, Ohio, and Mrs Julia Henderson of Malden, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday from the Zion United Church of Christ with interment in New Palestine Cemetery.
Friends may call ar the residence of the late Mrs. Gunn anytime until noon Tuesday and after that time at the church.
